Coaching Stories

Mid-level professional

Cindy was looking to gain traction as a leader, and, with a CareerFocus.Coach, she developed a plan to gain competency, achieve promotions and bigger scope of responsibility. With her coach, Cindy used this plan to grow into her leadership role and ultimately earn another promotion. This allowed her to have a greater impact at work.

State of Mind

Pat was being considered for a promotion. When he got difficult feedback, he would feel anxious and his  anxiety would impact his ability to perform at higher levels. As a result he would be given feedback and the cycle would continue. Pat needed to function at higher levels to gain the promotion he so earnestly felt he deserved. Pat came to CareerFocus.Coach to change the pattern to something that would elicit helpful responses. He worked with a CareerFocus.Coach to help him identify the state he was in and change it to create optimal outcomes.    The rewards of his efforts and hard work were many. Most importantly, Pat move from anxiety to seeing feedback as fuel for his future.

Just finished school

Marc had been hard at work on his degree and had to shift his focus on how to attain his first position. He had a goal and had good idea of which steps to take but received no job offers. A CareerFocus.Coach worked with him to see the intangible elements of his search that were hampering his progress. It was not long before there were delighted congratulations to him on his first job offer.

renewed energy

“Miserable” was the word Carol used when her CareerFocus.Coach first asked how she would describe her level of job satisfaction. Overburdened with work and missing out on quality family time, Carol was on the verge of quitting a job she once loved. Carol wanted a better work-life balance.  The key to regaining her satisfaction was helping her discover what was missing in her experience. She courageously shifted old habits and created a new way of working that gave her more energy and time.

in transition

Sam, heavily engaged in projects, did not foresee the company restructuring that resulted in her position being eliminated. She was shocked, faced with loss of income and knew she needed support through this transition. Sam was referred to CareerFocus.Coach and received the support that see needed to build her resiliency. Equipped with a bright outlook, Sam learned to really “own” her talents and explored multiple career options.

secrets to success

Matt was a candidate for promotion. He had been working hard for years and was certain that he deserved it. When a junior level person was promoted instead, Matt decided to use his disappointment as motivation to seek out from others what he could not see himself. Matt and his CareerFocused.Coach implemented a strategy for Matt to gain feedback from colleagues, his boss and clients. His coach helped him sift through the feedback and turn meaningful insights into an action plan for self-development. It wasn’t long before his boss recommended Matt to lead a company-wide initiative. He reached out to his CareerFocus.Coach as he navigated in this new arena. This assignment afforded Matt opportunities to engage with senior leaders throughout the company. After successful implementation, he was invited to assume a position of significantly greater scope and leadership.
